Welcome to InterSleep the interdisciplinary concept
for dental sleep medicine.

Since 2007 InterSleep was focused on restoring peaceful and restful nights for you and your bed partner. For this purpose, InterSleep-clinics cooperate with referring physicians who are qualified in sleep medicine.

Mandibular advancement splints / anti-snoring splint / apnea splint

Mandibular advancement splints are used to treat snoring and breathing pauses (sleep apnea). This complies woth the professional guidelines of the Swiss Society for Sleep Research, Sleep Medicine and Chronobiology (SSSSC) and the German Society for Sleep Research and Sleep Medicine (DGSM). InterSleep-clinics use it to treat snoring as well as mild and moderate cases of obstructive sleep apnea.

Patients with severe sleep apnea should always be treated first with positive pressure ventilation (e.g. CPAP). If you cannot tolerate this, mandibular protrusion splints are a treatment alternative, which is weaker than CPAP, but better than going untreated.

When you come to one of the clinics working according to our concept you will first have a consultation/examination. You are being asked to you bring sleep medicine findings with you – if you already have them. A polygraphy (nocturnal measurement at home) or a polysomnography (measurement in a sleep lab) without a therapeutic agent, i.e. your “baseline” measurement, is important to know exactly what problem you have.

In the first appointment it is essential that is is being checked whether you are suitable for therapy with mandibular advancement splints from a dental point of view.

Do you have a dentist? Then let’s keep it that way! As experts InterSleep-clinics are happy to work with them and you will then receive exclusively the nocturnal splint therapy.

Bite splints / grinding splints

Another type of splints is intended for people who overload their teeth, masticatory muscles and jaw joint at night by grinding or pressing. Such splints can be simple protective splints or highly customized bite splints. You will be examined and advised on what is the best therapy for you.
